Eyebrow Reading — Attention, Will and Patience

भौंहों का मतलब · bhaunhon ka matlab

FaceShastra Śāstra Desk · Updated 26 August 2026 · Sources: Bṛhat Saṃhitā ch. 68–70

The brow is the most legible feature on the face and the corpus uses every part of it. The body of the brow is read for the circle a person keeps; the ridge beneath it for force of will; the tail for what happens to attention over time; and the brow's give under pressure for patience — the real amount, not the claimed amount. Nowhere else do four seats share one feature so tightly.

What does the tail of the eyebrow reveal?

Śubha · favourable

Your brow tail rises — you keep working long after others stop enjoying it.

A brow whose tail rises toward the temple is read as application that outlasts interest — the capacity to continue past the point where the work stops being enjoyable. The corpus rates this above raw quickness, and says so directly, which it rarely does.

Aśubha · needs attention

A brow tail that falls toward the temple is one of the corpus's known warnings about attention — quick beginnings, and a specific point where interest dies. The texts name that point.

Whether your face carries this mark — and the classical counsel if it does — is part of the full reading.

What does a heavy brow ridge mean?

Śubha · favourable

A defined brow ridge — your standards are visible; disagreement with you costs.

A defined brow ridge is read as work that carries a visible standard — the person whose objection is anticipated by others before it is made. The corpus rates this favourably and notes that it makes disagreement expensive for everyone involved.

Lakṣaṇa · structural

A flat brow ridge — underestimated in year one, correctly valued by year three.

A flat ridge is read as a working manner that does not announce itself. The texts associate it with being underestimated in the first year of any post and correctly valued by the third.

Aśubha · needs attention

A heavy ridge is force of will — and the texts note it reads differently to those above you than to those below. That difference is the whole reading.

Your own measurements settle whether this applies to you; the counsel that goes with it travels only with the reading.

What does eyebrow thickness say about friendships?

Śubha · favourable

An even brow — loyalty without performance; your friendships survive silence.

An even brow body is read as loyalty that is neither performed nor withheld. The corpus associates it with friendships that survive long silences, and notes that this is more often a property of the person than of the friendship.

Lakṣaṇa · structural

A heavy brow — strong duty to family, with accounts others don't know they owe.

A heavy brow body is read as strong obligation to kin, given readily and expected in return. The corpus notes the friction this produces with those who did not know an account was being kept.

Aśubha · needs attention

Sparse brows read as a small circle kept deliberately. The warning attached is not about the smallness.

Whether your face carries this mark — and the classical counsel if it does — is part of the full reading.

Can the eyebrows show how much patience you have?

Aśubha · needs attention

The brow's give under pressure is read as the true limit of patience — usually misjudged by its owner in a particular direction. The reading names the direction.

This is one of the readings the measurement decides — and one where the texts' advice is worth having in writing.

How these readings are measured. FaceShastra measures 478 landmark points on a photograph and reads them against the Bṛhat Saṃhitā of Varāhamihira (chapters 68–70) — the same Sāmudrika Śāstra a pandit reads by eye, computed instead of estimated. Complexion and skin tone are excluded from every measurement, deliberately and permanently.

Common questions

What do thick eyebrows mean in face reading?

An even, well-fed brow body reads as a wide, durable circle — friendships that survive distance. Sparse brows read as a small circle kept deliberately, which the texts do not treat as a defect. The warning they attach to sparse brows concerns something else entirely.

What does the end of the eyebrow signify?

The tail. Rising or level tails read as attention that completes what it starts; a descending tail is the corpus's known mark for quick beginnings that lose interest before mastery — with the point of loss named.
